Ocean jasper is also known as Orbicular Jasper due to the visible orb patterns of the stone.  This rare form of jasper is only found in one location in Madagascar and was extremely hard to mine due to the location at the bottom of a cliff.  The location was discovered in 1922 and then lost for 75 years as the find is only visible during low tide.  This mine was depleted in 2006 so the ocean jasper on the market today is all that is available to collectors.
