What Length Do You Need?
Chains are sold based on the cutting length of the chainsaw guide bar. So when you're buying a 16-inch chain, the 16 inches is referring to the length of the bar, this is not the actual length of the chain.
TIP:
To ensure that you are purchasing the correct saw chain, you must also confirm the bar length, pitch, gauge, and number of links your bar requires and compare it to those of the replacement chain.
