Mom’s cleaning out her father’s (my grandfather) stuff after years of storing it.  This was among his things. This is a vintage United States Coast Guard Flag.   I don’t know how he obtained it or how old it is.  This flag is red, white, and blue in color. Has a bunting edge with 2 (two) brass grommets. Stamped on the bunting end: “Flag USCG Ensign, Type 1, Class 2 ~ 16” x 24” Valley Forge Flag Co. Inc”. Hand written on bunting “Flown at Sta. Port Isabel”.  Top left has an Eagle with a U.S. Shield, arrows in one talon and olive leaf branch in other talon, 13 stars surrounding the Eagle. Near the fly end says “United States Coast Guard, 1790”.  Measures 26 inches wide x 15 inches high.  Feels like a nylon material.

Condition: tattered edge, colors strong at top of flag and fades & discolored towards the bottom of it.  Rusting and green tarnish to grommets.

Any questions, please ask.
