Opalescence effect produces milky white edges on apiece of carnival glass. Opalescent glass was made by placing boneash in the glass mix. After removal from the mould a piece would bereheated; the parts that received the most heat would then turnmilky white. If the original glass was clear and it was sprayed with marigolddoping solution, it would become peach opalescent. If the glass colour was aqua and after it was reheated and sprayed, it would be aqua opal.
