Being offered on this auction is very
nice luncheon plate made by C. & E. Carstens Porzellanfabrik, Sorau,
Brandenburg. It has a stunning scalloped Rococo shape decorated with
engraved swirls. Its wall is separated from center with ribbed outline.
Plate is of cream background. It is heavily gilded. There are gold flowers
painted along its surface and a gold trim. The backside is marked with pail
green monogram with “Sorau” within a wreath below the crown. There is also
“Carstens Porzellan” and ‘S’ crossing circle below this mark. This mark
dates production of 1930. Brothers Christian and Ernst Carstens owed this
factory in Silesia within the first part of the 20th century as
a part of most famous Carstens group. If I am not mistaken, they acquired
it from Friedrich Boehme. They lost it after WWII. Production of factory in
Sorau is hard to find now.
Plate measures about 8” in diameter.
Condition is immaculate with no chips or cracks found. Colors are bright
and vibrant. Gold has no wear. Please take a look at the pictures to find
