EXTRA INFO

PHOTO THE OLD SWAN NETHERTON AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS 'MA PARDOES' AFTER DORIS PARDOE WHO KEPT IT FOR MANY YEARS UNTIL HER DEATH IN 1984 AT THE AGE OF 85 THIS PUB IS VERY WELL KNOWN TO BEER DRINKERS IN THE BLACK COUNTRY AND BEYOND. IT WAS AT ONE TIME ONE OF ONLY A HANDFUL OF PUBS IN THE COUNTRY THAT BREWED ITS OWN BEER; ALTHOUGH NOWADAYS THAT IS NOT SO UNCOMMON THE PLACE IS STILL WORTH SEEKING OUT FOR THE FINE ALES THAT ARE STILL BREWED AT THE BACK OF THE PREMISES. WHAT ALSO MAKES THE PUB FASCINATING IS THAT IT IS LARGELY UNCHANGED INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY AND IS GRADE II LISTED. 2020
