THE GREETING TREE

is the most famous tree in China, growing high in the legendary Yellow Mountains and said to be 800 to 1000 years old! Alas it is endangered by climate change.

This banknote, the only one depicting the aforementioned tree, is equally endangered.  We searched eBay and every other online currency site in the world but could not find a single other one for sale!! Not even one that had been sold in recent memory...

Therefore you are looking at a seriously rare note, especially in the offered grade range (between Choice VF+ and XF, depending on which of the 3 serial numbers we have - C684114, E8443321 or E026228). Every one is nothing short of superb!

Anwhei aka Anhui Regional Bank 1939 $1, engraved entirely in Chinese but for blue serial numbers.  Until we meet again under the Greeting Tree! Known as Yingkesong or Guest Greeting Pine, the tree growing in the hard granite rocks at 1,680 metres above sea level at the Yellow Mountain's Jade Screen Peak stretches its nearly 14-metre crown like a man welcoming visitors with open arms.
