Vintage Unmarked Silverplate Gold Color Handmade bowl, coaster?

size:  4 3/4"inches diameter outside measurement          1 1/4"inches tall approx          3"inches approx inside measurement (bowl area)

Not sure what this item was made for.  It does not sit flat as would a winecoaster, glass coaster.. It has no side arm indention for cigar or cigarette,and it is a most unusual item...

No hallmark that we can find

Gold color within the inside of the bowl and bottom of the outside The silver-plate area has some gold coloring also...
