The ROBIN MALONE comic strip was syndicated for a three year period by the Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA) from March 19, 1967 through March 11, 1970.  The strip followed the adventures of the newly widowed heroine as she manages the corporate empire inherited from her late husband.  The themes fluctuated from soap opera, high drama, industrial and political intrigue, satire and broad farce based on the ever changing whims of the syndicate.  Lubbers modeled Robin after one of his favorite movie stars, the glamorous Joan Fontaine.  This strip is among Lubber's best work and allowed him to hone the skills he developed on earlier strips like The Saint, Big Ben Bolt, Rusty Riley, Long Sam, Tarzan, Secret Agent X-9 and Li'l Abner.

The art offered in this listing is the daily strip for Saturday, June 15, 1968 of ROBIN MALONE.   In this strip, the sexy and evil Madam Shark and her sidekick, Barracuda, have rigged a speaker outside the window of Robin's New York City penthouse to convince the redhead she is in contact with her late husband.  The first two panels offering stunning visuals of Robin in the moonlight.  

 This art is produced in ink over graphite on duotone board.  The overall dimensions are 17 ⅝ x 4 ⅝ Inches.  There is light toning around the edges and a touch-up with Wite-Out here and there.  Lubbers worked with a lightbox and the reverse of this art features his rough sketches for this piece.  I purchased this strip at auction from the estate of the artist.  It is in Very Good Condition and is dated and signed by Lubbers.
