Each colour of the Cornish National Tartan has a special meaning ~ the single white overcheck on black creates the cross of St Piran's,the flag of Cornwall,  black & gold are the colours of ancient Cornish Kings, red is for the legs & beak of  Cornwall's national bird, the Chough & light blue represents the sea.
