Ink Option Information
Dye Ink : Dye ink is the most common choice of ink. It is cheap and great for printing photos as it produces bright vivid prints. They are also less likely to block printheads as they are completely soluble. The negative attributes of dye ink is that they tend to bleed a little on plain paper and fade quite quickly when exposed to UV light or high humidity conditions
Pigment Ink: Genuine Epson OEM ink cartridges are pigment ink in these printers. Pigment ink is archival and does not fade like dye inks, also it produces razor sharp text compared to dye (much like a laser printer). The negative aspect of pigment inks is that they block print heads much more easily than dye inks and because they form bubbles on the surface of photo papers they reflect light unevenly back to the eye which produces an optically duller finish than dye inks. Rihac pigment inks are resin encapsulated which means like the OEM inks they are much less likely to block heads then generic pigment inks. Rihac pigment inks also have a signficantly lower swell rate (over heat and time) compared to other non OEM inks)
Sublimation Ink: Sublimation ink, also known as Dye Sublimation, is a heat transfer ink used for t-shirts, mugs and other items treated for use with sublimation inks. These are not used for general printing and are a specialised ink. These inks turn into a gas when heated and impregnate into the substrate of the item being heat pressed.
