The monument was erected and dedicated in October 1917 at a cost of $ 40,000. The bronze figure represents the Spirit of the Republic. It is a memorial to the Missouri soldiers of both the Union and Confederate  armies. The card is in good condition, some dings, aging on the back, with wear on the corners.
