Being offered on this auction is vase made by Rosenthal China, Selb, Bavaria, Germany. It is of famous now German Op-Art line. Famous English artist Lord David Queensberry designed this vase. He is a Professor of Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art. In 1966 he founded Queensberry Hunt Design Group. In 1997 the work of the design group was exhibited at the 50th Premio Faenza International exhibition in Italy. The jury selected Queensberry Hunt as one of the ten most important design organizations in the world in the ceramic field. For Rosenthal, Queensberry has worked jointly with its partner Martin Hunt since 1979. Vase on this auction is called ‘Marble’. Queensberry Marble is known in few different colors. This vase is decorated with pink marble design on all glazed pinkish-white body. Vase has very stylish goblet shape. It is fully glazed. Looks splendid. Great German ceramist Karl Scheid designed this form. In 1956 Karl Scheid opened his own design studio; three years later his wife Ursula Scheid joins the cooperation: a joined venture where two artists create pieces of art under one name. The Scheid ceramics owe their secret to the art of variation and differentiation that always integrate into the complete works. They worked for Rosenthal since 1979 and created a number of outstanding pottery items for which they received several International Rewards. They also designed for other German porcelain makers, particularly Hutschenreuther. Vase is marked on the backside with standard Rosenthal Studio Linie Germany mark in green dating production of late 1970s. There is also form number 3712/16 incised on the backside.
