This 3 Way Kostal breakout lead is part of our automotive diagnostics breakout lead range for BMW vehicles.  It is designed to connect to 3 pin Kostal connectors found on CAM, Crank and other sensors within BMW and other vehicles. The leads allow automotive technicians to connect to a connector within the vehicle loom and conduct diagnostic voltage and current measurements of various sensors, actuators and components.  The output signals from the breakout lead banana plugs can be connected via a BNC to 4mm Banana Plugs Patch Lead to handheld or PC based automotive oscilloscopes from;  PicoScope, Hantek, Uni-T, TiePie, CarScope, Autel MaxiScope, Sealey, Bosch, Snap-On, Fluke.

3 Pin Kostal Oscilloscope Diagnostics Breakout Lead 

The individual wire connections are colour coded for identification and designed to allow easy access with a current (Amp) clamp so that wires can be tested in-circuit allowing both current and voltage measurements to be taken simultaneously.  

All of our automotive breakout leads follow an identical wire and banana plug colour code convention which are matched to pin numbers within the automotive connectors. This allows a technician to always know what pin number they are testing regardless of breakout lead and connector in use. Our WACB automotive breakout leads use the following colour code convention:

  • Pin 1 - GREEN wire and female banana plug
  • Pin 2 - RED wire and female banana plug
  • Pin 3 - BLUE wire and female banana plug
