About the Artist:

Myrna Hand is from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is from a very musical family, and remembers singing with her sister Carol even when they were very young. At the age of nine, Myrna joined her sister and cousin in their first group. They sang together for a couple of years, before joining Bob White, also from Halifax, to form "The Singing Canadians". Their enthusiasm for the Lord and their love of music, launched them into full time ministry. They traveled extensively across Canada and The United States for thirteen years.

The group disbanded after the death of Bob White, but her music ministry continued with numerous opportunities as a studio back-up vocalist for many of Canada's renown recording artists. It wasn't long before Myrna and her sister developed a deep friendship with Terry Whitfield. When The Vicounts were looking for new vocalists, Myrna and Carol stepped up to the challenge.

When Carol married Ron Holmes, from The Nations, Myrna joined them to start a new group called "Promise". Myrna had been friends with the groups drummer, David Hand, and as time went on would see this friendship blossom into marriage. Promise would be together for about five years. Myrna and David started their own group called "Dove and Company" with Myrna's cousin Len Steeves, and Susan Hamilton. They traveled part time for several years while starting a family.

At this time Carol and Myrna were reunited with a past member of The Singing Canadians, Deo Young, and went back into full time ministry, while Ron and David held down the home front. The reunited Singing Canadians traveled full time, mainly in The United States for six years.

 

This LP is on the "Sound lll" record label.
