Slow retrieved and jabbed will act like a normal popper across the surface with a zig zag swim action.

Faster retrieves and long pulls is where the lure comes into its own, the big open feed mouth has a lip at the bottom making the lure dive 10-15cm under the water leaving behind a huge bubble trail and pops back up on the surface as soon as you stop, or once under and fast retrieving will give the lure longer under the surface.
