Laser-Cut Wooden Deck for USS Constitution 1:96 by Revell

This laser-cut real-wood veneer deck is designed specifically for the USS Constitution model kit in 1:96 scale by Revell. It fits precisely over the original plastic deck and includes all openings required for the corresponding kit parts.

The engraved planking pattern is based on historical shipbuilding practice. It reproduces details such as the waterways, individual deck planks, plank-end arrangement and treenail pattern.

Historically Based Deck Details

The deck includes the perimeter planking known as the waterway, reproduced according to the construction of the original ship.
The arrangement and lengths of the individual deck planks follow historical shipbuilding practice.
At the bow, the plank ends are fitted into the surrounding planking using a historically based hooked arrangement.
The planks gradually narrow toward the stern in accordance with the shape and layout of the deck.
Engraved treenails reproduce the wooden fastenings used to secure the deck planks to the deck beams.
The treenail lines indicate the positions of the deck beams beneath the planking.

Historical Sources

The hull plan and the forward section of the main deck are based on the specialist publication The 44-Gun Frigate USS Constitution. The appearance and arrangement of the preserved ship’s decks were also compared with available virtual views of USS Constitution.

Precise Fit for the Revell Kit

The veneer deck is designed to fit accurately over the original plastic deck supplied in the Revell kit. All necessary openings are laser-cut to correspond with the openings and fittings on the plastic part.

The thin 0.3 mm veneer adds only minimal height while replacing the moulded plastic surface with genuine wood. This significantly improves the realistic appearance and overall quality of the completed model.
