Being offered on this auction is vase made by Rosenthal China,
Selb, Bavaria,
Germany.
Acknowledged artist Fritz (Friedrich Karl) Stockmayer (1877 – 1940)
designed this vase. He designed for several porcelain makers in Selb. He
worked for Rosenthal in 1932 – 1940 and was artistic leader from 1935. His
artwork was influenced by Asian designs. This vase has a very scaled footed
wide urn shape. This is Rosenthal form number 2665. Vase has white
background decorated with embossed drawing featuring two Chinese Man. One
side shows Farmer going to his field and passing large Indian Tree.
Fisherman is shown on another side; he also seats under large Indian Tree.
Two other sides have drawings of Chinese flowers. All drawings are in
brown. Gold band at the opening completes this design. Vase is fully
glazed. Looks splendid. Vase is marked on the backside with standard
‘Rosenthale Germany KunstAbteilung Selb’ mark in green. This mark
identifies original production of 1938. Other marking is ‘Handkoloreit’ (hand painted) and
production painter initials ‘HH’ written in brown as well as incised form
number 2665.
Vase measures about 2 ¾” in its
widest diameter and stands 3” tall. Condition is immaculate with no cracks
or chips found. Colors are bright and vibrant. Gold has no wear. Please
