Lot of 30 VINTAGE cards.  IBM type (IBM brand or their generic equivalent) punched and printed 80 column cards as were used in the Cornell University College of Engineering (Ithaca, NY).  Also called Hollerith cards.  All cards have 80 numbered columns identified by printing on the cards and have printed row and column punch locations.  The punched cards also have a character printed at the top of each column where there is punching to indicate what the hole pattern in that column represents.  Cards available are nearly all of the "square corner" style (a few available may have round corners).  The punching on most, but not every card available, was for the PL/1 language (Programming Language One), with also some punched with Fortran, or another language.  Lot of 30 may contain 1 or 2 unpunched cards.

In the early 1970s, all cards were punched on an IBM model 029 keypunch and read several times by an IBM card reading machine attached to an IBM System 360 mainframe computer (IBM S/360).  Note the October 1972 (10/72) date on the colored top card in the photo.  Some cards were punched before 1972.  Each card also has manufacturer printed rows and columns of numbers (see photo 2).  Photo 3 shows the rear of a card.

For educational, historical, novelty, collecting, display purposes, etc.  These make interesting bookmarks.

Cards shown in the photos are typical of each lot of 30, but are not the exact cards each buyer receives.  Cards in each lot will vary in the number of their punched holes and corresponding ink printing, but all cards will be punched.  Some of the cards may be punched with program instructions, others may be punched with data.  Only the first buyer gets the colored top card shown in the photo
(already sold).  Subsequent buyers will not get the colored card.  Photo 2 shows a full front view of a card that happens to have most of the columns punched and printed; most have fewer columns punched.  The darkness of the ink for the character representing the punched hole pattern at the top of a punched column varies from card to card.

Cards are in good used condition and are clean and undamaged (by the standards of having been punched, printed, read by a machine, handled, and carefully stored for many years.)  Each card will be inspected before shipping.  All cards were stored in a IBM branded card storage box climate controlled since the early 1970s.  (see photo 4 of the IBM storage box; the box is not included with a lot of 30 cards.)

Sold "as is".  No Returns.  No returns or refunds for buyer's errors or buyer's remorse.

International Buyers-   No returns or refunds for a foreign (international) buyer for any reason.  Please see our high ebay seller rating.  International shipments may involve more risk for both buyer and seller than for domestic (same country) shipments- therefore: By buying, a foreign buyer agrees to waive all rights to make any claims against seller through ebay/Paypal or any of their related businesses or web sites, including for refunds or returns for any reasons.  Buyer agrees that when the shipping company/post office lists the first tracking entry as showing their possession of the package(s), buyer agrees that the seller has met all of seller’s obligations.  If item is listed for shipping by "First Class International Package Mail", this is done to reduce the buyer's shipping expense on lower price items.  First Class shipping is uninsured and may not provide full tracking all the way to the final destination.  If you want shipping by "Priority Mail International" instead of First Class International Package Mail, send an ebay message to the seller before you purchase this item.  If you don't agree with any of the above selling terms, do not buy this item.
