4929 V8 valve spring height micrometer 1.600-2.200 "range checker gauge tool
Features and highlights:
Installation height: 1.600 inches -2.200 inches
The reading of the tool is similar to a micrometer, accurate to 0.001 inches (about 0.025mm)
The fastest, simplest, and most accurate method to measure the installation height of the valve spring
It is installed like a spring and then expands until the valve, lock, and retainer are completely fixed.
The analog installation allows ultra-accurate reading.
The package includes:
1X micrometer
Before installing the spring on the cylinder head, check the installed spring height:
Install one inlet valve and one exhaust valve.
Obtain the correct spring retainer and retainer lock. Hold the retainer against the valve lock while keeping the valve assembly stable.
Place the 4929 height micrometer or caliper and a pair of calipers on the valve between the spring seat and the outer step of the retainer, and turn the height micrometer counterclockwise to determine the valve spring height. After measuring all valves, find the shortest height. This will be the mounting height of the spring on your head.
Add shims until the remaining valves reach the proper height.
Take the height micrometer and retainer to the valve spring tester and check the valve spring load at this height.
Important:
Since the retainer is installed in the spring when checking the spring load, it should be ensured that the thickness of the retainer is not included when calculating the installation height, and the thickness of the retainer should be considered when compressing the spring. When the spring is installed at the correct height, the spring load detector will display higher.
