SILVA®
55 6400/360 MILSPEC COMPASS
Probably the most resourceful compass in the world for artillery; target acquisition and command posts.
The Expedition 54B was the go-to compass for NATO Military end-users for decades. However, all good things eventually come to an end! The new Silva® 55 model is a unique compass featuring both an optical precision sighting system and a SILVA 1-2-3 SYSTEM compass in the same unit, giving unbeatable precision and versatility in the field.
Bearings can be taken with accuracy to within half a degree. 6400 mils on the graduation ring and 6400 mils and 360 degrees on the sighting scale. The primary difference between the 54B and the 55 models is the illumination system. THe original 54B used a beta light or "Trilux" material to give reliable and continuous illunimation. The new 55 model uses a more envronmentally responsible compound that requires sunlight or flashlight for activation providing <4 hours illumination.
