This REAL orchid petal necklace was created from a REAL fresh Florida flower, a tropical delight! Now you can wear a bit of the tropics all year round with this lovely petal necklace. Pressing and drying flowers was popular in the Victorian era although blue dried flowers have been found in Egyptian tombs! Now with modern techniques, flower petals can be turned into beautiful necklaces.
Techique: I press and dry each petal carefully in my home studio.Then I apply layers of a special clear coating resin that hardens permanently into a beautiful, glass-like shiny glaze. After hardening, each petal is sanded smooth so it creates a beautiful, one of a kind necklace for you to wear year round. They never need watering!

My Story
How lucky I am (Diane S. Hein) to live in Florida where I am graced by beautiful, colorful flowers all year round! My passion has become petal necklaces although I do love making other kinds of jewelry. I enjoy the entire process from growing the flowers, to drying and pressing them, to glazing them and best of all, wearing them year round! My mother grew flowers in her garden and instilled in me the love of flowers. She loved pansies on Mother’s Day! And now I can grow pansies and other flowers and wear them in memory of her love. In 2004 I started photographing flowers especially loving still life flower photography, but my love for petal necklaces has grown immensely. The rose is my favorite flower, and the red rose is my logo. I grow flowers in both my front and back yard and use many of them for my petal necklaces. Now I want to share the beauty of nature’s petals with you as jewelry that you can wear year round.
