A true antique curiosity! This unique antique desk seal is made of solid natural rock crystal, fabulously colourless, hand cut, shaped and polished. With a high quality ribbed silver base, it's set with a rock crystal seal bearing the superbly carved monogram ‘BC’ or ‘CB’. It’s also set throughout with thirteen absolutely tiny genuine Essex crystals, reverse hand carved and reverse hand painted, to depict symbols of good luck. Among them are a toadstool; a chimney sweep; a ladybird; a spider; a horseshoe; a four-leafed clover, and a pig. I’ve never even heard of anything like this, it has a wonderful sense of frivolity and fun that the Victorians were not known for and gives a real feeling of being in touch with the humanity of our ancestors. You won’t find another! It dates from around 1870/80 and is in excellent condition, with a tiny chip to the crystal body near the spider, crack/loss to the uppermost inset crystal and one or two minimal blemishes elsewhere. It weighs 81.3 grams and measures just over 2 ½ inches tall. All my items are guaranteed 100% as described or your money back, so bid with confidence! What's more, I offer layaway deals so there's no need to let any of my listings slip through your fingers - just ask! If you like this one, click here to see my other items.
