Organic Black Maca Powder
Ingredients: Organic Black Maca Powder
Origin: Peru
Organic Black Maca Powder has its own unique benefits.
Organic Black Maca Powder is an ancient food cultivated in the Andes, it is sometimes referred to as 'Peruvian Ginseng'.
If Maca is new to you and you don’t know where to begin don’t be put off as it is really easy to use, try this chocolate smoothie bowl recipe to get started. Maca is ideal for anyone with a busy lifestyle where work, parenting, exercise and stress all deplete the body. Maca has a rich nutrient content, including B vitamins, calcium, zinc, iron and iodine.
Maca roots come in a range of colours. The colour doesn't change the look or taste of the maca powder but signifies different phytonutrients and antioxidants. Organic raw black maca powder is less common than organic yellow maca, and is particularly popular for hormonal issues, probably due to its unique range of nutrients.
Organic standards are highly controlled so you can be sure there are no bulking agents or heating involved in the processing of the powder. You may be surprised to know that despite the different colour of the black maca root at harvest, the powder is not very different in colour to the other varieties.
Our black maca powder is raw and goes through a careful and gentle processing system to retain the optimum nutritional content of the root. It is harvested from a family run farm in Peru. It is dried naturally in the sun for 10-15 days and covered at night to avoid frost and rain. Before it is packed it is put through rigorous testing set by the organic board in Peru. Once in powder form it is packed in air tight bags and stored in cool dry conditions protected from light and moisture.
One serving (1 teaspoon – 5g) of organic black maca is high in Copper and a source of Vitamin C. Both of these essential nutrients are needed to protect cells from oxidative stress and for normal function of the immune system.
How to take Maca: Start with one teaspoon daily and build up to 3tsp (15g). Maca is a rich nutrient dense powder, it is advised to increase servings slowly.
