“Shangri-La” was the personal P-51 Mustang of Capt. Don Gentile. He was the first American fighter pilot to reach Eddie Rickenbacker’s World War I record of 26 enemy kills. Gentile ranked up 21.83 aerial and six ground enemy aircraft destroyed. He got his first kill while a member of the RAF No. 133 Squadron, known as “Eagle Squadron”, flying Spitfires under Royal British Command.
