Hasami ware (HASAMI-YAKI) is porcelain currently made from about 400 years before (1599) in Hasami-cho, Higashi-Sonogi-gun, Nagasaki-ken.

At the beginning, although Hasami produced the blue porcelain, it is that the materials of porcelain were discovered in the village after that, and shifted to production of painting which drew the easy pattern by indigo gradually.

The quantity of production became No.1 of Japan by having produced public-oriented tableware so much with the huge climbing kiln in the second half of Edo.

Although called the side kiln of the Arita ware which is a famous place of production of porcelain, it is said from that time that the quantity of production of painting porcelain was No.1 of Japan.

It is guessed that most of the porcelain excavated from the ruins of the Edo period after the 18th century is Hasami ware.

A "KURAWANKA-WAN bowl" (*1) and export-oriented a "KONPURA-BIN bottle" (*2) are to the products hit especially from Hasami.

In addition, tableware production is prosperous even in today in Hasami, and the Teabowl made from porcelain and the share of food utensils are the top class in Japan.

(*1) "KURAWANKA-WAN bowl"

KURAWANKA-WAN bowls are bowls of the porcelain which was called the hit of the Hasami ware maximum and painted the simple crest.

The origin of the name was named from the words ""KURAWANKA" when it was Kyoto and Yodogawa between Osaka, and tradespeople approach the Edo period with boats and sell meals at it."

Those days, porcelain is high-class and the greatest reason that having changed a lot the common sense of those days of not reaching hit is told to people.

(*2) "KONPURA-BIN bottle"

A "KONPURA-BIN bottle" is a TOKKURI-SAKE bottle type container of painting white porcelain, and is the name of the sake bottle which was also called "RAN-BIN" and was made for export.

The origin of a name originates in "comprador" which means a broker in Portuguese.

Alcohol and soy sauce were stuffed into the KONPURA-BIN bottle, and it was carried to every place via the East India Company.

The character of the overseas of an original design is an order of the Dutch, and the form carried out massively is said to have considered stability.

In order to show the contents which are not visible unlike a glass bottle, it is written as "Japanese soy sauce" (JAPANSCHZOYA) and "SAKE of Japan" (JAPANSCHZAKY) in Dutch.

It is said that the KONPURA-BIN bottle was loved by the persons (France emperor Louis XIV, great writer Tolstoi of Russia, etc.) in many histories.
