Description

This is an extremely shallow, low cup-volume mouthpiece. The rim is wide and very round and soft, for extra comfort. The cup is a very shallow V bowl. The entrance to the throat is rounded, which allows plenty of air flow for a nice big sound. Slotting is excellent. Customers that have played the Lightning have described it as feeling similar to some of the smaller Warburton pieces, like Shoop and Odneal. It is not a copy of either of these but has a similar rim and cup. The Lightning has the Legends enhanced throat (#27), enhanced throat cylinder length, and Legends S backbore. It's well suited for extreme upper register work and extended upper register playing. Use the Lightning when you really want to zap those upper register riffs!

This mouthpiece is kept in stock in three blanks: lightweight, standard weight, and heavyweight. The lightweight blank adds extra sizzle for more of a lead, or 'Las Vegas' sound. The heavyweight blank is extremely efficient; the added mass creates enriched slotting and core of sound. Standard weight is a nice balance of both.
