This is a modern (1981 ABNC Certification on the back) proof print by the American Bank Note Company of:

$5000 Obsolete Note of the Canal Bank of the New Orleans Canal & Banking Company. This organization had one of the longest histories of any such  organization. Chartered in 1831 it closed down in 1933. None of the original notes are known to be in collectors hands today. 

This print is made with the original copper engraved plate from the archives of ABNC. The print is in supurb proof condition.
