KAZUWA-YAKI specified as the specification folkcraft article of Tottori Prefecture (KAZUWA ware).

Kiln is Kurayoshi-shi, Tottori, KAZUWA-YAKI, and KAZUWAZAN-GAMA (kiln).

A ceramist is 2nd Toichi's wife and her ceramist names are YOSHI / 3rd Toichi (real name: Yoshiko Yamane).

1th Toichi and 2nd Toichi already passed away.

She has worked many years and together with 1st and 2nd Toichi as a ceramist.

She has succeeded completely the tradition and the technique of 1st and 2nd Toichi.

She was also specified as the traditional craftsman from Tottori Prefecture in 2009.

This work is KAZUWA-YAKI SHINSHA-YUU MACCHA CHAWAN (they are a KAZUWA ware and a red copper glaze powdered-green-tea Teabowl).

Difficult red copper glaze of coloring is coloring beautifully in the technique original with KAZUWA-ZAN kiln.

Since the work is made by the inefficient method in order that a ceramist may make glaze of a soft color color without taking a risk into consideration, soft red like this work colors.

The half of KAZUWA-ware works is thrown away for these reasons.

In order to make soft red to such appearance, much time and effort and time are needed.

Wooden storage boxes, and a seal cloth and the Japanese paper guide (Japanese and English translation are one sheet each) of kiln are attached to this work.

This work is a very good condition also without a crack and a chip in a new article.

All the works are the secured pottery in which I visited kiln directly, and gave and did direct buying of the explanation from the ceramist.

1971: Study under a ceramist in Osaka.

1976: Married 2nd TOICHI and came to Tottori.

1980: Study under Founder TOICHI.

1980-2008: Ceramic art practice with 2nd TOICHI.

2008: Inherited the 3rd generation TOICHI for 2nd TOICHI pass away.

2009: Specified as Tottori traditional handicrafts person.

Kiln is Kazuwa-Yaki-Kamamoto of the whereabouts, and KAZUWAYAMA-KAMA to Kurayoshi-shi, Tottori.

3ｒd Touichi (YOSHI) is specified as DentouKougeiShi (traditional-handicrafts craftsman) of Tottori Prefecture.

Kazuwa-Yaki is specified as the traditional-handicrafts article of Tottori Prefecture.

KAZUWA ware history :

As for KAZUWA glow, kiln will be opened in 1751 (Houreki-Nenkan),It continued with HakubiSan-glow and HakusyubiSan-glow, and went into Meiji Era (1868), and porcelains were manufactured under the name of Kigyoku, Hakumen, and TamaHaku.

When the tradition of the KAZUWA glow tended to stop, first Toichi who studied under Mr. DouunHirano wished revival, and opened the kiln of KAZUWAYAMA.

The style has received popularity from you as KAZUWA glow of the long tradition and vivid cinnabar.

KAZUWA glow has received honor, such as Japanese technical exhibition winning a contest and a purchase by the Imperial Household.

The second generation Toichi (Tamiya) studies under father founder Toichi, and cinnabar makes him new fields, such as YutekiTenmoku and golden coloring Yo-Hen, be also their favorite from the first.

KAZUWA glow is specified as the appointed hometown handicraft of Tottori Prefecture.

Cinnabar glaze :

It is mystical glaze although cinnabar is glaze of pottery.

Cinnabar glaze becomes deep green in oxidization calcination of perfect combustion, and it becomes red in the reduction firing of incomplete combustion.

Cinnabar glaze is glaze with very difficult calcination and coloring.

When cinnabar glaze is used, calcic glaze (if it calcinates, it will become the quality of glass which required the thin light blue) is covered over the whole.

If oxidization and reduction are repeated and it is baked thoroughly at high temperature for several hours, the place where cinnabar was reddish, and the greenish place will come out.

The color which is helped by the fire of the kiln which is not made in calculation and appears in it is wonderful.
