1987 David Winter Cottages - Ebenezer Scrooge's Counting House- COA - Signed by Artist Carol Exon
This is a great David Winter creation. It has been displayed, but is in great condition with no issues. It comes with the original box(1 of the 2 original foam pieces), COA, and a couple of additional papers. But most importantly, it is signed by the artist Carol Exon who was one of the artists in the John Hine Studios who hand painted these pieces.
This piece was created as a special item for the 1987 Christmas season. It is called Ebenezer Scrooge's Counting House. This is the first of the Christmas series items by David Winter, with one to come every subsequent year.
The size of the building is 6.5" tall and 6" wide. It has green baize(felt) on the bottom so your shelf or table won't get scratched. The building is a wonderful multiple story house with different textures, and lost of snow covered roof peaks.
This set also comes with the original box. It isn't mint, but has square corners and the corrugated insert. On one side there is an ID label that states that the date is 1987 and it is handmade as well as hand painted in the studios & workshops of John Hine Ltd. Hampshire, Great Britain.
Also with the set is the paper folded COA. It lists on the back that there are 44 pieces with a new tiny set of ten. The COA states that it is an authentic David Winter Cottage, hand-made and hand-painted at the Studio and Workshops of john Hine Limited, Woolmer Way, Bordon, Hampshire, England, under the personal supervision of david Winter and John Hine.
There is also a little color folded paper that talks about the David Winter Collector's Guild.
There are also two inspection papers in the box - Baized By No 14, and also Baised By No. 12. There is upposed to be a "Packed By" paper, but it may have been inadvertently switched.
The final piece of paper in the set is a postcard that the original owner received in the mail that is announcing ythat the item had been received in stock, and they could pick it up at any time. The postmark is 10/11/88, and the piece was signed by the artist on 10/30/88.
This is a fantastic little building. If you are a collector, it will be pretty difficult to find one that is in this condition, with the papers, box, and signed by one of the hand painters. If you know someone who collects these pieces, this would make a fantastic gift. It would also make a great adition to your Christmas village.
