A ceramist is Tottori specification Traditional Crafts Person 2nd Toichi (Tamiya Yamane).

First Toichi already passed away and 2nd Toichi also passed away in May, 2008.

This work is 2nd Toichi's "KINSAI BATARAI HIRA CHAWAN" (golden coloring BATARAI type HIRA Teabowl).

This work is a work which 3rdTOUICH (YOSHIKO YAMANE) was keeping.

"HIRA-CHAWAN" is a MACCHA Teabowl of the type mainly used for a summer in order to tend to adjust the temperature of hot water.

This work is a work with the color called "KIN-SAI" (golden coloring) calcinated without using glaze.

Although it is hard to be visible with a photograph, a thin golden film appears with the angle which looks at a work.

When "BATARAI" translates literally, it is a meaning called "horse tub."

"BATARAI" expresses the form of the Teabowl.

Exclusive wooden storage boxes, and a signature cloth and the Japanese paper guide (Japanese and English translation are one sheet each) of kiln are attached to this work.

This work is a very good condition also without a crack and a chip in a new article.

All the works are the secured pottery in which I visited kiln directly, and gave and did direct buying of the explanation from the ceramist.

The origin of a KAZUWA ware (KAZUWA-YAKI) and kiln :

The KAZUWA ware was opened by the Houreki era 1751.10.27-1764.6.2 least recently, and continued with HAKUBI-SAN (HAKUBI-SAN Ware) and HAKUSYU-BISAN (HAKUSYU-BISAN Ware).

It became Meiji Era and the KAZUWA ware was manufactured under the name of KI-GYOKU, HAKUMEN, and GYOKU-HAKU.

When tradition tended to cease, first Toichi who studied under Douun Hirano wished revival of the KAZUWA ware, and opened KAZUWA ZAN kiln.

The style has received much people popularity as a KAZUWA ware of the long tradition and vivid cinnabar.

The KAZUWA ware has received honor, such as Traditional-Art-Crafts-Exhibition winning a contest and a purchase from the Imperial Household.

The second generation Toichi (Tamiya) studies under father Toichi, and is good at not only cinnabar but also new fields, such as oilspot glaze temmoku glaze and KIN-SAI.
