THE OLD GARRET, Part First by Mrs. Follen was published 1856 in Boston by Whittemore, Niles & Hall measuring 4 3/4" x 6 1/8" with 96 pages, b+w illustrations by Billings.

The spine cloth is worn at the ends; there is splitting to the spine cloth along the rear gutter. The remains of a Sabbath School bookplate are inside the front cover; there is a 3/4" x 1" chip at the top front endpaper. A name and 1859 date are inked at the top front endpaper.  The book is solid with strong gilt spine decoration.
