Description
Likely Introduced c1955
Linear Rustication “Grain”
Non-filter, Aluminum Screw
White Spade, Great Shape!
Here’s an early example of a retro DR GRABOW in the BELVEDERE, which has a rich dark brown stain over a linear grain style finish, and aluminum screw mount. It does not take paper filters; it has a screw fitment with no stinger. Here's a little info on the BELVEDERE model, as referenced on Pipedia: BELVEDERE (c1955?) -- One of the early RJR pipes. Some, perhaps the earlier ones, have #76 cleaner ("Rook" shape). Others use the #72b cleaner ("spoon" shape on end). Eventually, this pipe was dropped from the offers.
The bowl is made in nice shape, has no real wear noted. The inside is nicely seasoned. Stem is in great shape, has the white-colored spade logo, and mounts with a metal screw fitment, has no stinger, just a hint of a tooth mark. The pipe weighs in at about 1.36 ounces, 38.5 grams. Freshly polished and ready to smoke!
Please see my other Auctions! Combined shipping of multiple items no problem, wait until auctions end to pay, and I’ll send a combined invoice! Additional cleaning may be desired on some pipes, as I focus on the exterior reconditioning and reaming, and leave the shank interior to the new owner, pipe stand not included with any pipe. Click photos BELOW to enlarge, and see more photos! Returns OK before you smoke any pipe.
