Bring the World's Most Precious Spice into Your Kitchen

Experience saffron as it was meant to be. Sourced directly from the desert plains of Herat, Afghanistan, Burlap & Barrel Herati Saffron offers an uncommonly delicate, multi-layered flavor profile far superior to mass-market varieties. Hand-harvested at dawn by a dedicated farming cooperative, these gorgeous, sun-dried whole threads provide an authentic culinary experience that honors generations of agricultural heritage.

Tasting Notes & Aroma:

Flavor Profile: Warm, sweet, and complexly earthy.

Aroma: A comforting, honeyed fragrance reminiscent of dried roses and fresh hay.

Flavor: Uniquely delicate and floral with a subtle, bittersweet finish.

The Ultimate Guarantee of Purity

Many mass-market saffrons are adulterated, cut, or dyed. Burlap & Barrel ensures 100% absolute purity. Each individual thread is meticulously hand-extracted to leave its characteristic, flame-colored yellow tail. This natural gradient in color serves as your visual assurance that the spice is completely un-dyed, clean, and authentic.

How to Use:

A tiny pinch goes a long way. Steep a few threads in warm water, broth, or milk before cooking to unlock its intense golden color and deep fragrance.

Savory Classics: Essential for authentic paella, rich risottos, fragrant biryanis, and Persian tahdig.

Sweet Delights: Beautifully infuses into cookie doughs, buttery cakes, ice creams, and kulfi.

Beverages: Elevate your morning tea or construct a warming golden milk latte.
