The World War II Memorial (WWII) in Washington, D.C. was a long time in the making, proposed in the 1980s, authorized in the 1990s, and finally unveiled in 2004. The dedication to “The Greatest Generation” was on May 29, 2004, fittingly Memorial Day Weekend.

This Washington Post newspaper from May 29, 2004 (Front & Metro sections *only*) was purchased on the weekend of the Memorial Day dedication. 5 pages in the Front and Metro sections provide background information about the memorial, firsthand WWII memories, and a street map/guide of the National Mall in front of the Memorial. Also included is the Metro section from May 31, 2004 with additional coverage of the memorial and the event.

The condition is like-new with sharp page corners, no tears, and no significantly visible signs of usage. Long-term storage has been in a smoke-free home inside a plastic storage tub. Please see pictures for close-up views of the actual newspaper you will receive. Feel free to ask any questions or for additional pictures.
