The Cutout Hole: The distinctive center hole (donut style) was a purposeful feature manufactured directly by the mint. In the early 20th century, merchants used center holes or distinct geometric shapes so barkeeps and shop clerks could instantly differentiate trade tokens from actual legal tender coins simply by feel in a dark saloon or a deep apron pocket.
Composition: This token is struck in brass (or a similar copper-alloy variant). Over the decades, exposure to air, handling oils, and moisture has given it a rich, dark brown, weathered patina.
Condition: Vintage-Adult preowned. Normal age wear; patina.
NOTE: Photos show the actual condition from multiple angles. Please review them closely to verify overall condition, as they are part of the description. Any notable flaws will be shown.
