 COMPANY INFO:

DON HUME LEATHER GOODS, of MIAMI OKLAHOMA

 has been a holster maker for over 50 years.  A former La Mesa, California

  Police Officer and later a San Diego  County Deputy Sheriff,

 Don always had a bent towards law enforcement equipment.

Don has always made an excellent holster, and his products

 are well known throughout the West. 

Don, a more unassuming and less flamboyant type, 

started his holster business in La Mesa, California.  It sprung from  his hobby of
 

 making small leather items while in the Navy in the early 1950s.  He opened a “garage” shop

 during his next 7 years while serving in the local

police departments

 

Later he devoted his full time to his business and moved to Miami, Oklahoma where  he operated out of a 10 acre,  25,000 square foot building.

  He perfected the rugged rigs of his day, and created new styles

 and developed new ideas as the company grew.

He worked at various times with the likes

 of ELMER KEITH , BILL JORDAN and other

famous shootists of the old days in holster designs and patents.

The biggest footnote in Holster History for the Don Hume Company would
probably be the development and marketing of the BILL JORDAN BORDER PATROL  design, and having it overseen by Bill himself, a personal friend of Don Hume.

 

 

This is for a NEW, old factory stock, vintage & quality made DON HUME, of Miami, Oklahoma brand in
Rarer BROWN BASKETWEAVE finish, leather gun holster.

This is a classic H216 JORDAN STYLE HOLSTER  that Don Hume developed in conjunction with the old time famous shootist lawman Border Patrolman Bill Jordan...considered one of the best wheel gun men in his day.  This is an old style police rig and the forerunner with the basics of many modern holsters.  It is considered by many to be one of the fastest, practical revolver holsters available, then or now.
 

 

This is a wet molded holster is made with a quality English Bridle leather, in heavier 9/10 ounce weight leather, double stitched in the stress areas. The seam is DOUBLE welted, slicked and coated for a professional finish. 

 

 

Highly innovative in its time, Jordan holsters features a reinforcing metal shank to contour the holster to the hip and offer no slack, which means less draw resistance.  The trigger guard is open and extra welting and shape position the gun with the fully exposed grips outbound for sure and fast access.   Acquiring the handgun in the proper hand position is a quick and natural on the draw.

 

 

It has a shorter drop for comfort while seated, and fits on a belt up to 2.25" wide at a butt forward combat draw presentation. 
It snaps over or slides over.

 

This has a conventional outside retention strap and snap.
