Delivered to Switzerland January 5th & registered in March 5th, 1981

Imported to Sweden 2007

The 99 turbo S 1980 5-speed Export model 

as a LHD (left hand drive) was a limited edition

which got the first generation 5-speed gearboxes (G45701)

in about 1000 cars finished in generally 5 colours, such:

*  Acasia Green metallic

*  Aquamarine Blue metallic

*  Carmine Red metallic

*  Marble White solid

*  Jetblack solid

This configuration was intended for the European market

exept for the UK which received the 4-speed RHD version only.

As many know UK got 200 Jetblack & 400 Cinnabar red 99t-80.

In Sweden during 1981 a batch of 5-speed 99t

were returned due to the increased sell-rate 

of the new Saab 900 around Europe.

Approx. 150 to 200 cars returned to Sweden 1981 

has now been reduced to about 50cars 2026.

Out of that, there´s only 4 + this example in Jetblack 

left in total in the road department registry.

Other specific features of the final production year of the 99 Turbo 1980 were:

* Front/corner reversing lights (only on 5-speed versions)

* Speedometer reading up to 240 km/h – this was the only year the Saab 99

featured this, and only on the turbo models.

* New seats with adjustable headrests, a design carried over to the 900 until 1994.

* Green-tinted windows all around

* Bilstein shock absorbers and stiffer springs, identical to those on the EMS models.

* Saab original waterinjection tuning (optional) - leaves additional 15-20BHP

(predecessor to the nowdays Intercooler)

The car was found in 2007 in Bern/Switzerland and has been there 

since new, with a shorter exeption of having a Dutch registration with 

one of a family member (living abroad from Switzerland)

Undersigned brought the car home to Sweden in Nov 2007

and later on made the full registration in Dec 2009.

Injunction:

All documents are brought to this auction to be exposed for

confirmation, but with some minor visual adjustments due to GDPR

purposes, which means that some personal data will only be

available to the auction-facility and a prospective buyer

to avoid criminal activities.

Two minor events that might raise any questions such:

a)  Original certificate

b)  Speedometer alteration upon registration.

a) Due to the handwritten procedures in Switzerland upon the time 1980

a clerk by misstake wrote “1980” instead of 1981 which easily can be 

conformed/compared in the available authority-documents.

b) Close to the registration date, the original speedometer

began to show “oscillations” between 30-85km/hrs

which would fail a registration, so an exchange of the meter

was neccesary to complete the registration.

However the original meter was sent to a firm which was

specialized on VDO gauges, and performed an overhaul

which is confirmed by the document available. 

Through the late 80ths and the majority of the 90ths

the car has not being used, and under my ownership

a long overhaul has been done back & forth for the past 20 years.

During this spring 2026 the first mileage of 26km since 2007

has been performed due to tuning/adjustments to the 

K-jetronic injection system and the Bosch ignition.

For more than 3 decades this 99turbo has been stored in a dark and

dry enviroment.

The whole interior is 46 year old - but NEVER USED with exeption

for a seatcover-protection on the drivers seat.

Therefore an absolute mint condition that looks like new overall.

As a Saab enthusiast since 43years back, I know that this

specific configuration was manufactured in only 30-40 cars

at Saab 1980.
