A distinctive expression of 1970s Japanese watch design, this Seiko 6138-0040 “Bullhead” pairs a rich brown dial with champagne-gold chronograph registers and a warm copper-tone tachymeter bezel. The vivid orange chronograph hand adds a striking sporting accent.

Its signature silhouette comes from the crown and chronograph pushers positioned at the top of the substantial stainless steel case—the arrangement that earned this design its “Bullhead” nickname. The sculpted case and steel bracelet give it a strong presence on the wrist.

Part of Seiko’s celebrated early automatic chronograph family, the 6138 combines mechanical timekeeping with separate elapsed-minute and elapsed-hour counters. This example’s caseback serial is consistent with February 1974 production.
