Fuzz Face Silicon Kit - Pre built PCB populated with Genuine New Old Stock Components including Genuine BC108 Transistors + Pots + Wire

Genuine reproduction of the early 1970s Silicon Fuzz Face board.  The component types match what would have been originally fitted but are from later production runs so have not drifted in value or dried out.

The kit is as per the photo, the PCB is populated with parts that are soldered in, the board also comes with 2 pots and hook up wire.  It is not a full kit but has the hard to find parts and as the PCB is ready assembled it leaves less room for error while building.

The resistors are the correct 0.5watt Allen Bradley Carbon Compostite type, these are from one of the most recent batches to come out of the factory.  They are well within the specifications unlike parts from the 70s which I have found to have drifted in value by as much as 30%.

The Transistors are a matched pair of genuine BC108, hand tested and selected for a gain of around 400, which is considered to be ideal for the early 70s Hendrix / David Gilmour style Fuzz sound.

The yellow capacitor is a New Old Stock capacitor equivalent to the original yellow chicklet capacitor.

The electrolytic capacitors are NOS, they are un-used and I have tested them and they are in spec.

Board dimensions are 62mm x 40mm, holes centres are 49mm apart.

The other parts are:

• 1 x 1K Linear (Genuine Alpha branded)
• 1 x 100k Log Pot (Genuine Alpha branded) I have found the 100k gives the best sound with these Silicon Fuzz Faces vs the 500k pot some people use, I have sold about 4000 Fuzz Face kits using the same pots and the feedback has always been good from customers.
• 40cm each of Brown, Yellow, Orange, Yellow, Green, Red and Black wire (the colours used in the original units)

The board is a modern reproduction of the original with the same layout and the same size.  The mounting holes can be filed out to fit some of the different variations of the original Fuzz Face case.  The pads are pre-coated with a thin layer of solder and are really easy to solder to.  The tracks are coated with a thin layer of epoxy at the factory so will not corrode.

I will include wiring diagrams but not full instructions, it is assumed that the buyer will have knowledge on how to build the kit from the parts supplied and information found on the web (there is a lot info out there on these!).

You will need to find suitable parts including knobs, sockets, footswitch and case to complete the kit.
