This antique metal pewter box measures 1 3/4 x 2 x 3/4 inches tall. The hinges in the rear give it a tight closure to keep the contents, most likely snuff, dry and safe. There is an indention with a circular ring in the center of the top to pull it open. It would have held the dried powdered form of tobacco, referred to as snuff, and would have easily fit into the pocket of a gentleman in the 18th or 19th century. It is well made and the condition is good. This will be an unusual addition to a collection of trinket boxes, pewter boxes, or snuff boxes. NO RESERVE!
