Rare & Delightful Vintage NAO by Lladro Porcelain Figure Boy Stretching/Awakening c1970.

NAO, part of the renowned Spanish company Lladro, was founded in 1953 in Valencia, Spain. The brand specializes in producing hand-painted porcelain figurines inspired by childhood and everyday life. During the 1980s, NAO gained popularity for its unique style and meticulous attention to detail. Today, figurines from this era are highly sought after by collectors, offering a blend of elegance and emotion alongside exquisite craftsmanship.

This is an enchanting figurine from NAO by Lladro, handcrafted in Spain between 1970 and 1977. This is a porcelain treasure, depicting a boy in blue-patterned pyjamas, stretching with one arm raised stretching lazily upwards and the other reaching to his forehead, while resting on a blue cushion. The colour pallet and charm are characteristic of NAO. It is a piece often called ‘Boy Stretching/Awakening’. It is a difficult piece to research as it is rarely found being offered for sale.

The base has the maker mark, it reads: NAO MADE IN. It also has, a number of impressed marks. This specific dark brown backstamp with the stylized, angular "NAO" text over "MADE IN SPAIN" was used from approximately 1970 to 197. It is considered the first printed backstamp for the brand. The stylized letters without any additional company information and the sailboat/ship logo, the explicit words "by Lladró," and the "DAISA" copyright notice, were added to subsequent stamps introduced from 1977 onward.

The figurine measures approx. 22cm by 14cm by 10cm, it is in excellent condition, it is without damage.

This a rare collectable piece by NAO.
