Offered is an original 1949 dated U.S. Navy Pilot's Life Raft Survival Ration, preserved in outstanding, pristine condition. Although manufactured after World War II, this ration is identical in design and configuration to those issued during WWII, making it an excellent example of the survival equipment carried by Naval Aviators during the war and throughout the immediate postwar years.

This ration was an important component of the U.S. Navy M-592 Para Pad Backpack Survival Kit, a compact emergency survival pack designed for pilots and aircrew forced to bail out over water or remote locations. Similar survival rations were also included in a variety of military emergency and life raft survival kits, providing essential nourishment until rescue could be effected.

The can remains complete with its original opening key, a feature that is often missing on surviving examples. The printed top clearly identifies the contents and operating information, adding to its originality and display appeal. Overall condition is exceptional, making it one of the finest examples you are likely to encounter.

Measures approximately 4 inches x 2 inches x 1 inch, making it an ideal size for display alongside WWII and Korean War aviation survival equipment, pilot gear, or emergency escape kits.

Original military survival rations in this level of preservation have become extremely scarce, as most were consumed, discarded, or deteriorated over the decades. Finding a complete example with the original key and outstanding graphics is increasingly difficult.

Whether you collect U.S. Navy aviation memorabilia, military survival equipment, pilot life raft gear, or simply appreciate rare military artifacts, this is a superb addition to any advanced collection. An exceptional and increasingly hard-to-find piece of U.S. military survival history.
