The Black Bay celebrates 60 years of diving watches with extraordinary heritage. The iconic model inherits the general lines, as well as the domed dial and crystal from the first Tudor diving watches. It borrows the characteristic angular hands, known as snowflake, from the watches delivered in large quantities to the French National Navy in the 1970s. Lending inspiration from the classic Submariner-like watches of the 1960s, this Tudor Black Bay 54 watch is sophisticated in both style and functionality.

Launched in 2023 as a tribute to Tudor’s first dive watch, the Ref. 7922, introduced in 1954.

That original model featured a 37mm case, no crown guards, and a minimalist dial, traits faithfully echoed in the BB54, even down to the lack of minute markers on the bezel, it is a bold nod back to the 1950’s. Unlike the Black Bay 58 (which nods to the 1958 “Big Crown” Ref. 7924), the BB54 goes even further back, embracing mid-century proportions and purity.

The BB54 is a compact, vintage-inspired dive watch that pays direct tribute to Tudor’s earliest Submariner, the Oyster Prince Submariner Ref. 7922 from 1954. At 37 mm, it’s the most faithful Black Bay to Tudor’s early dive watches and has true vintage proportions

Regardless of the BB54 nodding back to its vintage roots, it is a modern watch with the MT5400 COSC movement, 70 hours of power reserve and Tudor’s innovative “t-Fit” rapid adjustment clasp. This is a modern versatile watch that wears well on smaller wrists, but also appealing to purists who value historical accuracy.

This newly released iteration pays tribute to Tudor’s heritage with the return of "TUDOR blue", a distinctive sapphire hue showcased on a sunray-brushed dial and matching blue bezel.
