The Quadrato is one of those Tissot designs that makes its point before a single specification is read. A broad 40mm square stainless-steel case surrounds a richly layered brown dial, creating a watch that feels architectural, substantial and unmistakably different from the conventional round chronograph.

The dial is particularly successful. Its warm chocolate-brown ground is broken into multiple textures, with a finely patterned central section giving the composition depth. Three recessed chronograph registers are arranged asymmetrically across the dial, their markings accented in vivid electric blue. Those blue details provide a sharp, almost technical contrast against the brown, while oversized Arabic numerals at 12 and 3 and broad applied hour markers give the watch considerable visual presence. A discreet date aperture is positioned between four and five o’clock.

The case is equally sculptural. Strong projecting corners frame the square sapphire crystal, while rectangular chronograph pushers sit neatly alongside the signed crown. The caseback identifies the watch as Tissot Ref. T005.517A and is marked Sapphire Crystal, Stainless Steel and Water Resistant 10 BAR.

This generation of the Tissot Quadrato Chronograph dates to the 2000s, with the T005.517A family already documented on the secondary market by 2008. Its Swiss quartz chronograph architecture was conceived as a contemporary sporting watch rather than a traditional dress piece.

The watch is fitted with a new brown leather strap, chosen to complement the chocolate dial. The case and caseback show visible scratches and normal signs of previous use, clearly represented in the photographs. As with any pre-owned watch, the original water-resistance rating should not be relied upon without current pressure testing.

A particularly handsome Quadrato configuration—the combination of brown textured dial, electric-blue chronograph accents, imposing square case and complete presentation gives it considerably more personality than the typical monochrome Swiss chronograph.
