Nikon NIKKOR-S Auto 5cm f/2 Early Type with Tick Mark and 9 Aperture Blades

This is an early-production Nikon NIKKOR-S Auto 5cm F2, the very first standard lens made for the Nikon F when it launched in 1959. Collectors prize the earliest examples for two features found here: the "tick mark" engraving on the aperture ring and the 9-blade diaphragm, both of which were changed on later production. The focal length is engraved in the old style as "5cm" rather than "50mm". Its all-brass and chrome construction is beautifully made, and the classic Sonnar-influenced double-Gauss rendering is much loved by film shooters and by mirrorless users adapting vintage glass.
