Early Defiance #30 buttons from around the 1920's-1930's era. Two buttons are silk-covered(the more dome rounded), and the other three are tartan fabric(the flat round). The fabric shank on the back that you sew to a garment is made of some type of sackcloth. The back steel metal has japanning. They measure approx 0.75"; see the photos for the measurements. The three flat rounds are made of tartan material; one of them has a small loss of material at the corner. See the close-ups where I am using the pointer. The two silks have material loss; see the close-ups. Some of the wrap is coming up; see the last photo to see what I am referring to. This is age-related; old silk is fragile and prone to loss of material. There is minor rust and tarnish pickup on the metal; however, it's not corroded. Minor loss to the japanning.
