Custombilt, c1940’s Oom Paul
Rusticated Saddle Stem, Nice!

Offering an early pipe from Custombilt. Custom-bilt started in 1929 by Tracy Mincer, and the name had the hyphen removed to become Custombilt in 1942. There is a lot of information you can study about the succeeding eras of production and ownership of the company, and the variations in the stamps used, to indicate when it was made and by which company. You can find some of that info on Pipedia. The bowl has got that well known deep rustication, which they originated, and is often copied by others. This bowl is in very nice condition, some dents to outer rim, no issues. The interior is well seasoned, it draws easy, with the draw-hole bottom rear center. The stem is made of a vulcanite, has a hint of wear on the button, is in great shape. Weighs in at about 2.09 ounces, 59.2 grams. It’s been freshly polished and is ready to smoke!
