Overview
A rare, museum-quality archival piece from the golden era of Italian design. This heavy, longline knitted coat/cardigan was designed by the legendary French avant-garde designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac during his historic tenure as the inaugural creative director for Iceberg.
Known for bridging the gap between high art and utilitarian fashion, this piece perfectly embodies JCC’s signature style. It features a heavy, textured grey marl wool base overlaid with a bold, oversized primary-coloured windowpane plaid pattern in vibrant red, blue, green, and yellow.
Design Details
Silhouette: Clean, structured, longline avant-garde cut with a classic tailored collar.
Closure: Minimalist concealed front placket covering the front fastening for a streamlined look.
Pockets: Dual lower hip pockets featuring contrasting cotton/poplin fabric trim strips at the entry—a classic utilitarian JCC touch.
Finishing: Chunky ribbed cuffs and hem creating a slight bomber/slouchy drape.
Sizing & Measurements
Tagged as an Italian IT 42, which corresponds to a modern UK 12 (Women's Medium). However, due to the era's design, it features a gorgeous, slightly oversized, slouchy fit that could easily style as unisex.
