Austria 1978 – 100 Schilling – 700th Anniversary of Gmunden

An attractive large Austrian commemorative coin issued in 1978 to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the town/city of Gmunden, commemorating the period 1278–1978.

The Gmunden side features an architectural representation of the town, surrounded by the inscription:

1278–1978 · 700-JAHR-JUBILÄUM DER STADT GMUNDEN

The opposite side carries a striking modern geometric design incorporating the Austrian federal eagle, together with the denomination 100 SCHILLING.

The coin has an attractive bright silver appearance with strongly preserved design detail and sharp lettering. Some light surface marks, small spots and signs of handling/storage are visible under close inspection, as expected for a vintage coin of this age. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
